The Staten Island Academy Experience – Students at the Center

The Academy has been a part of the Staten Island community for more than 130 years, and today 100% of Academy graduates get into the most competitive colleges and universities.

The wonderful experiences that Academy students have go far beyond academic learning: confidence, a love of exploration, leadership skills and much more, guaranteeing that all students in our diverse community can make the most of their potential during their years at the Academy and beyond. Our students and faculty develop lifelong relationships and deep bonds.

In the Lower School, Grades Pre-K3 through Grade 4, children receive the kind of nurturing that makes them feel at home, comfortable enough to ask questions, explore, and create. At Staten Island Academy, we put children at the center of their education. We believe that by building our programs around students, as opposed to building students around our programs, learning will be long-lasting, meaningful and fun.

In the Middle School, Grades 5 through 8, students begin to stretch their wings in a safe, supportive environment. They study with teachers that specialize in specific subject matter and take advantage of fully equipped classrooms that function as laboratories and studios.

In the Upper School, Grades 9 through 12, our students study hard, play hard, and they take the initiative to lead groups large and small. On average, 75% of the Upper School students play on interscholastic sports teams. The Academy’s outstanding Arts program produces full-scale plays and musicals, and offers 2-D and 3-D advanced fine arts curriculum. Our rigorous college preparatory program helps them prepare academically and socially to succeed at whatever college they decide to attend. The Academy’s College Guidance Program is one of the leading college guidance programs in New York City and is headed by the former President of the New York Staten Association for College Admission Counseling.

At Staten Island Academy, we believe that the end depends upon the beginning. Give your child the opportunity to make the most of their potential. For more information about the Academy, go to
