Club gives first Rotary Club of Staten Island Memorial Scholarship

The Staten Island Rotary Foundation awarded to St. John’s University in memory of Rotarian Gladys Schweiger; The College of Staten Island in memory of Borough President Albert Maniscalco; Wagner College in memory of Rotarian Dr. William Smith and The Dr. Norbert H. Leeseberg Service Above Self Scholarship was presented to recent for academic excellence and community service to Alexia Shay who is graduating from New Dorp High School and attending Rutgers University this fall.

For the first time a “Rotary Club of Staten Island Memorial Scholarship” of $2,500 is being given to a senior at Monsignor Farrell High School who has financial need and has demonstrated exemplary service and leadership in the school community while maintaining high grades.

The Staten Island Rotary Foundation also presents on behalf of the Ann H. and Norbert H. Leeseberg Trust to the Seamen’s Society for Children and Families.
